A MESSAGE FROM OUR BISHOP-CRISIS IN THE HOLY LAND

Our call to respond to those suffering in the Holy Land.

SEE BELOW FOR EVENT ON TUESDAY, 10/17

A message from Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M.

As is so often the case, our sisters and brothers in need in our own country and throughout the world depend upon our love and generosity, prompted by our Catholic faith, and turn to us for help in times of crisis. Such is now the case in Israel. I offer some ways to respond.

First, foremost and always, we need to pray. In this month of the Rosary, pray this most effective prayer that our Blessed Mother will intercede with her Divine Son for the people affected by the current war. Pray for peace. The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, has also made this request on behalf of the bishops in Israel:

We ask that on Tuesday, October 17, the Feast of St. Ignatius of Antioch, everyone hold a day of fasting, abstinence and prayer. Let us organize prayer times with Eucharistic adoration and with the recitation of the Rosary to Our Blessed Virgin Mary. … This is the way we all come together despite everything, and unite collectively in prayer, to deliver to God the Father our thirst for peace, justice and reconciliation.

Second, please respond in charity to the extent that you are willing and able to Catholic Relief Services at this link: support.crs.org/donate/holy-land-conflict.

Thank you. Our Lady, Queen of Peace, pray for us!

LET’S PRAY TOGETHER

Our joint parishes are invited to come together for Benediction and to Pray the Rosary for Peace on Tuesday, October 17th at 6:00pm at St. Pio Church.

While you can always pray at home on your own, it will certainly be a powerful prayer, after a day of fast and abstinence, for us to fill the church and pray together.  Please join us.

This is the last weekend for the Christmas Giving Tree, December 3 and 4, 2022.  The gifts will be sorted and delivered in time for Christmas.

Our Christmas tree is by the Altar with tags designated to either girls or boys and their age. Feel free to take a tag or two after Mass and when you can, put your special donation under the tree. Or, you can bring your gift up to the Parish office, Monday-Wednesday 9am-2pm. Please do not wrap the gifts!   NO NEED TO TAKE A TAG, feel free to give a donation of your choice. The age group is 0-17 years old; gift cards are also appreciated.

A very special thank you to Kathy Diffley for your partnership with this project. To our new friend and volunteer, Cathie Castagnola, thank you for your spirit and helping us. To Chris Grandinetti and all of our Ushers for helping at the end of each mass, to Pat & Bill Kevish for taking the gifts over to our Parish every Saturday after 4pm mass, Greg Bierster, my husband and helping hand and to Connie Barraco for this beautiful ad in the bulletin.

Mostly, thank you and God Bless each and every one of you for your generous donations. Wishing you a very happy and healthy Advent season.
